Elomatic to design a factory for Greenful Group that makes sustainable construction materials
Greenful Group has chosen Elomatic to design a factory for sustainable construction materials to be built in Riihimäki. The plant will produce construction materials made from 100% textile, plastic, and rubber waste. The factory is the first of its kind to recycle waste on such a large scale, and with this project, significant amounts of textile and plastic waste will be recycled in the Southern Finland region.
On March 15, 2022, Elomatic Oy signed a contract with Greenful Group OÜ for the design of a production plant to be built in Riihimäki, Finland. The plant will produce fully recyclable construction materials made from 100% textile, plastic, and rubber waste. The factory is the first of its kind to recycle waste on such a large scale, utilizing up to 50,000 tons of textile waste per year.
This circular economy project fully supports Elomatic’s corporate mission of designing customer facilities that increase global sustainability and improve the Earth’s climate.
“The cooperation of multiple engineering disciplines plays a key role in the plant design project. Climate change has pushed us to utilize waste streams as raw materials for our products, and our partnership with Greenful is an important step towards achieving this goal. We are delighted that Greenful chose Elomatic to design the plant,” says Patrik Rautaheimo, CEO of Elomatic.
With this project, significant amounts of textile and plastic waste will be recycled into environmentally friendly Greenful products in the Southern Finland region. In addition, the project will increase the amount of technology and business expertise related to the circular economy in Finland.
This project will also serve as the model for Greenful’s 10 factory buildout across Europe, with Elomatic working as the lead engineering partner in the expansion.
“We chose to partner with Elomatic because of their extensive experience with complex projects and multi-sectoral engineering expertise to develop our first innovative production plant. This is a completely new manufacturing technology, and we trust Elomatic to get it right the first time, with more plants to follow over the next several years. Our long-term goal is to have an impact on the waste levels in the world and improve our global climate. Elomatic will be with us all the way”, says Toomas Allikas, Founder and CEO of Greenful Group.
